Hunter Mountain's Best Kept Lodging Secret

Policies

Check In

We are a small inn with minimal staff and we plan our days around check in and out times so please be courteous and call as soon as you have identified a delay. Normal check-in is from 3PM—7PM, those checking in later will be provided a way to access the inn Late check-ins must be PRE-ARRANGED.

Additional Guests in Rooms

An extra person in rooms deemed large enough for three is an additional $40 fee. No reservations will be accepted for parties larger than three. All reservations require a nights deposit, balance due on arrival.

Children

Well behaved children over the age of 10 are accepted-rowdy children cannot be accommodated as the house is done in high Victorian style with lots to see and touch. Older homes like the Fairlawn are not well insulated so noise carries throughout the house. Parents accept responsibility for damages caused by their children so please be aware of this policy. Children must be supervised at all times.

Cancellation

The Innkeeper tries his best to be as flexible as possible but room nights that are cancelled cannot always be re-booked so keep that in mind as you make your reservation. We may be turning away guests all week and last minute reservations may not occur. If rooms are not resold, you will be liable for all room nights.

Regular Reservations

Reservations must be cancelled within 7 days or they will be charged for one night.

Festival, Concert or Special Event Reservations

Festival, concert or special event rooms must be cancelled 14 days in advance. If cancelled within this 14 day timeframe Innkeeper will charge entire amount and credit back any room nights filled by new guests minus the one night deposit.

Holiday Reservations

Holiday reservations must be cancelled within 30 days. If cancelled and room is rebooked, guests will be credited full amount minus one night’s deposit.

Smoking

The Fairlawn Inn is completely non-smoking both in common area rooms and guest rooms. Ashtrays are provided on porches for customer use OUTSIDE. A cleaning fee of $250 will be assessed for smoking, cooking or unauthorized pets in room.

Pets

The innkeeper loves dogs and accepts well behaved and quiet dogs. The weight or size of the dog is secondary to their being quiet. Though we are dog friendly, other guests comfort comes before dogs. The age of the inn precludes having dogs that bark as older homes are not insulated and as quiet as newer construction. There is a $25 fee per night to bring your dog. Multiple dogs may be problematic so please visit with the innkeeper if you have any questions about our policies.

Accessibility

It is our understanding that the ADA requirements for our property are required but flexible due to our designation as an Historic Property. Because of this designation exterior changes to the building are not normally applicable. We have that designation both at the State and Federal level as the “Harry Fischel House”.

To be as handicapped friendly as possible we have made accommodations to our property. We have a wheel chair ramp with access from the rear parking lot in the rear of the building to minimize its visual impact. It is accessible to the parking lot. This allows handicapped access to the ground floor porch, ground floor rooms, all the common areas and ground floor porches of the house are accessible. This is the primary entrance to the property. You can access the patio and downstairs gardens by taking the ramp to that level.

We have a downstairs room (Spring Valley) that is handicapped accessible. It can be accessed with a wheelchair but access to the toilet is restricted due to spacing between the wall and shower. There is a grab bar to assist with movement to the toilet. The toilet was upgraded to a taller seat to accommodate guests. This room has a sink that is wheelchair accessible and a 4” lip on the shower to navigate for showering. The innkeeper having broken his ankle in 2018 used this ground floor room with a wheel chair so it is navigable dependent on an individual’s needs. You can contact the innkeeper for more information. He lives on site so is generally available if guests need him and can remove a chair or whatever to make it more comfortable for guests.

The four common area rooms are also accessible from the rear downstairs porch. The dining room can accept a wheelchair by removing one of the dining chairs for breakfast. The half bath in that downstairs area is accessible with grab bars to assist. It is the most usable as the space in front of the sink and toilet is ample. All spacing in the downstairs common area rooms allows for wheelchairs.

If you have any questions about the accessibility of any area, room or property please contact the innkeeper at the main phone number which is 518-263-5025 and we would be happy to assist you.
